Not sure how to begin your colour-mixing chart?
In this short tutorial, I’ll show you how to choose and prepare your six colours, organise your chart and create your first colour mixtures.
I won’t paint the entire chart with you—the fun is in making your own discoveries. Once you understand the starting point, you’ll be ready to continue mixing and explore the colours your palette can create.
Print your template, prepare your paints and let’s start mixing.
Happy colours!

First Row + First Column Mixing Chart
Oh là là… you’ve created your first row and column.
Take a moment to look at your colours.
Did you find some mixes easier than others?
Be gentle with yourself. This is a great time to notice which colours feel natural to you and which ones you might want to explore a little more.
You might already be discovering colours you love and others that surprise you.
Can you see how many new colours you can create from the colours already in your palette?
I like to keep a small “colour recipe” book where I record some of my favourite mixes.
It’s a nice way to remember combinations I love, but it’s completely optional.
Now it’s your turn to continue with the rest of your chart.
There’s no rush.
Mix, observe and enjoy discovering what your colours can do. ✨
